Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of September 16 to 22:


  • Jul 2-Oct 15: Farmers Market @ Triwood Community Association (2244 Chicoutimi Dr NW) 3-7pm. Runs every Tuesday throughout the summer.
  • September 16 (7:00pm-9:30pm): Hello/Goodbye: Sharanpal Ruprai and Liz Howard – At Lunchbox Theatre, you will hear readings from both writers and participate in a reception afterward. This event is free, but you do have to RSVP. For more information:

  • September 18 – 22: Beakerhead – A festival of art, science and engineering returns in a big way. Key events include, The Spectacle in Prince’s Island Park on September 21, For Science! at Telus Spark on September 20, Lunch Without Light at Dark Table on September 18 and 20, Seven Wonderers at Studio Bell on September 19 and more!   • September 18 (7:00pm): Ian Burton – At King Eddy (439 9 Ave. SE), there is a free indie performance as he wraps up his National Music Centre residency

  • September 20 (8:00pm-11:00pm): Spectral Illuminations IV – Emmedia and Beakerhead brings the Memorial Park Library to life during this evening. Ten local media artists and collectives have created original project-mapping installation to light up the building.

  • September 21 (9:00am-3:00pm): Kerby Expo 2019 – Calgary’s community for adults 55+ is holding their annual expo right by Kerby C-Train Station to live music, trade show booths and education session.


  • September 18 – 21: Calgary Clown Festival – At the Pumphouse Theatre, they are partnering up with The Calgary Clown Society for the first Calgary Clown Festival. There will be six original shows staged over the four days. For more information and pricing:
  • September 20 (7:00pm): Alberta Spotlight: Beach Season – At Studio Bell (850 4 St SE), catch duo Beach Season as they showcase their blend of R&B and electronic pop. Admission: $10-$15
  • September 19 – 22 (varying times, see link): The Calgary Fall Home Show – get ideas for your home for everything from organization, decor and renovations. If you’re one of the lucky few that got free tickets at reception a couple of weeks ago, don’t forget that this event is coming up! For more information:
  • September 20 (7:00pm): Samson et Dalilah – At First Baptist Church, this 142 year old opera tells the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah. Admission: $25-$40
  • September 21 (8:00pm): Steve Hill – At King Eddy, come see this one-man band, playing blues rock. Admission $20-$30
