Here are some ideas for outings and fun things for the week of November 26 - December 2:

Leisure Centre Schedules:


  • November 28 (6:00pm) and December 1 (10:00am): Art Calgary/Calgary's Art Fair – 16 contemporary artists will be showcasing and selling works at the latest edition of Art Gallery at Mona Lisa Art Salon (1510 7 St SW). Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food and/or light used winter clothing donation. If you want to join for the open reception on November 28, you must RSVP in advance.
  • November 29 - December 6 (12:00pm): Rockin' Around The Core Christmas Tree - the Core is presenting eight days of local performances. Head to the Core's Christmas tree very day at noon from November 29 - December 6. For more information on individual performances:

  • November 29 (1:00pm): More Than a Number - at the Kerby Centre's Seniors Acting Lab is presenting a one--act play called More Than a Number at the Center's lecture hall. The show features five friends playing cards discussing the topic of ageism to alternately humorous and tragic effect. Coffee is served after the performance.   • November 30 (10:00am-3:00pm): Frozen Fun - at Calgary Farmers' Market's Calgary Christmas Market event series, Frozen Fun is a day of icy activities for the whole family. Visit the on-site igloo and make a traditional maple taffy treat and try out ice carving.
  • November 30 (12:00pm-4:00pm): Willow Park Village's Winter Wonderland - head down to Willow Park Village for an afternoon of holiday fun on November 30. There will be in store deals, free Starbucks hot chocolate, Santa and elves, a candy cane lane, animals from Butterfield Acres and performances by Youth Singers of Calgary. Dress in an ugly Christmas sweater and you enter the chance to win a $250 shopping spree!


  • November 27 - December 1 (times vary - see link): Cuff.Docs Documentary Film Festival -  Calgary Underground Film Festival's fall showcase of non-fiction film returns for round seven at Globe Cinema. There will be 12 full-length films, a variety of shorts and a host of surprises that CUFF fans look forward to year after year. Admission: $10. For more information:
  • November 27, 28, 29 & 30 (times vary) A Christmas Story - At Rosebud Theatre, Bob Clark's 1983 holiday classic is taking stage. Admission: varies. For more information:
  • November 27, 28 & December 3 (7:30pm): Sounds of the Season: On the Road- the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra is bringing its holiday spirit on the road with this series of performances. The program is set to include secular and sacred holiday favorites as the orchestra ventures out of downtown to perform in community spaces. Admission: $35 - for tickets, locations and more information:
  • November 28 - December 31 (times vary - see link): Noel Indoor Light Park and Christmas Market - at Nutrien Western Event Centre (Stampede Tr. SE), Canada's largest indoor light park and Christmas market is coming to Calgary! Buy tickets early to save and check out all the attractions such as a interactive light park, food trucks, craft beer and spirits, Santa's Village, an artisan market and more!   • November 28 (6:30pm): Calgary Story Slam: First  - at Trolly 5 Brewpub (728 17 Ave SW), Calgary's competitive Story Slam series rolls on with an evening of stories inspired by a 'first.' It is open mic, just bring a story ready to go. Admission: $8
  • November 28 - December 8 (times vary - see link): Shakespeare Company: the Merchant of Venice - at Reeve Theatre (210 University Ct. NW), Seana Mckenna is presenting, one of Canada's most renowned stage actors, as Shylock. This play touches on themes of money, social injustice and love as events unfold.   • November 29 (6:30pm-9:00pm): Community Voices in Honor of World AIDS Day - this fundraising event in support of HIV Community Link falls just ahead of World AIDS Day (Dec. 1) and Aboriginal Aids Awareness Week (Dec. 1-6).  Admission: $25
  • November 29 (7:30pm): Sultans of String Christmas Caravan - at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Dr SW), Fish Creek Concerts is hosting globally inspired instrumental act Sultans of String. The Sultans are a Toronto-based, multiple Juno-nominated quintet known for their signature blend of international styles.  Admission: $25-30
  • November 30 (5:30pm): Flamenco Tablao X - at Junction (628 8 Ave SW), experience an evening of exciting flamenco music and dance featuring renowned guitarist Nicholas Hernandez. Admission: $13-35
