The High Performance Rodeo has generously donated 3 flex passes (the equivalent of 12 tickets) to CASS, so that CASS clients can take part in this major Calgary cultural event, regardless of their ability to afford tickets. The passes are eligible for performances from January 9-27, of:

Please visit https://www.hprodeo.ca/ to find the time and date of the performance that you would like to attend (and more about each performance!), then contact Sarah Clark via email, or by calling CASS (403-283-0611). She will get your tickets reserved, to be picked up ahead of the performance. Please note: we need to reserve your tickets at least 48 hours in advance,so you will need to make the request to Sarah at least 4 days in advance to make sure that we can reserve it on time-- however, the more in advance you request tickets, the better-- they will go fast!

March of Dimes Calgary is looking to give away 8 free smart tablets to people whose quality of life would be improved by being able to access technology. Last year’s giveaway resulted in at least one CASS participant getting a brand new tablet. The deadline to submit your application is January 16, 2019. The City of Calgary is hosting a handful of free, fun New Year’s Eve events this year—a dance party at the new library, skating at Olympic plaza, and public art on display. You can get all of the info through http://www.calgary.ca/CSPS/Recreation/Pages/Events/New-years-eve.aspx?redirect=/nye

We have received free tickets to the Calgary Home Renovation Show which runs January 11-13. Please stop by reception to pick yours up. We have lots, but they go fast—first come, first served.

Jan 5: Southwood Winter Festival @Southwood Community Association (11 Sackville Drive SW) 2-5pm. Sleighrides, petting zoo, music and more. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the Calgary Food Bank.

Jan 9: Money Mentors- Tackle Debt @ New Central Library (Room 0-13, 800 3 St SE) 6:30-7:30pm. Learn strategies for dealing with debt from a reputable source

Jan 14: We Were Children- Film showing and talking circle @ Dining Centre U of C. 7-9:30pm. This is a documentary about the experiences of First Nations children in the residential school system. Dec 31: Noon Year’s Eve @ Telus SPARK Science Centre. For those of us who won’t make it to midnight this year, this is a great party with a countdown at noon and a dance party on a bubblewrap floor!Regular Admission rates apply, or you can sign out one of CASS’ community connections passes to get in for free.
