Hi Everyone,

March of Dimes Canada will be offering a Learning Independence for Future Empowerment (L.I.F.E.) program from October 16-27 for people between the ages of 18-30 with a physical disability who are able to direct their own care. The program includes goal setting, financial literacy, health & wellness, as well as recreation and even some music therapy. Please the attached poster for more info and contact information.

Aug 8-11: GlobalFest Human Rights Forum 2017: Exploring Indigenous Rights across Turtle Island. @ John Dutton Theatre, Central Library. 4-6 pm each day.  Admission is free and light snacks are provided. Aug 10: Taste of Calgary@ Eau Claire Market. 11am-9pm. Admission is free, but you will need to purchase food tickets ($1 each, number of tickets varies per dish) to sample the dishes. There will be live music and nearly any sort of food imaginable to sample.

Aug 12-13: Dragon Boat Festival@ North Glenmore Park. 7 am-6pm. Entertainment, food trucks, beer gardens, live music and even a bit of dragon boat racing.  For info, maps, and more, check out https://calgarydragonboatsociety.com/Festival.html

Aug 13: Marda Gras Street Festival@ Marda Loop 10am-5pm. One of Calgary’s staple street festivals. Check out http://www.mardagras.ca/for everything you need to know before you go.

Aug 10: Adults Only Night: Ka-Ching@ Telus Spark Science Centre. 6pm. Learn all about… money? While enjoying an adult-oriented science night. You can use CASS’ Community access passes to get your tickets for free, or you can pay the regular $19.95 admission.

Aug 12: Calgary Japanese Festival Omatsuri@ Max Bell Centre. 11am-6pm. Arts & crafts, food, sake tastings, kimono dressing, and anime presentations. http://calgaryjapanesefestival.com/has more info.

Aug 13: Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Board Race@ Shouldice Park to Prince's Island Park. Starts at 10:30am. If you want to compete you will need to register and pay $20 at Red Nik Surf & Swim (22 Richard Way SW) or, you can watch for free from the riverside.
