Hi Everyone,

March of Dimes Canada will be offering a Learning Independence for Future Empowerment (L.I.F.E.) program from October 16-27 for people between the ages of 18-30 with a physical disability who are able to direct their own care. The program includes goal setting, financial literacy, health & wellness, as well as recreation and even some music therapy. Please the attached poster for more info and contact information.

Studio C’s August Exhibition is called “Serial Colour”, and will be running form August 3-25. Check back with them every month at see what’s new.

Composting is here(well, almost here…)! Find out all about the composting process from your home to the composting facility and back again at: an overview of the recycling process, check out: you would be interested in a tour of Calgary’s Waste Management Facilities, let me know. We will need at least 10 people to schedule a tour.



Aug 8-11: GlobalFest Human Rights Forum 2017: Exploring Indigenous Rights across Turtle Island. @ John Dutton Theatre, Central Library. 4-6 pm each day.  Admission is free and light snacks are provided. For more info on the forum and all of the other global fest events, check out:

Aug 10: Taste of Calgary@ Eau Claire Market. 11am-9pm. Admission is free, but you will need to purchase food tickets ($1 each, number of tickets varies per dish) to sample the dishes. There will be live music and nearly any sort of food imaginable to sample.

Aug 12-13: Dragon Boat Festival@ North Glenmore Park. 7 am-6pm. Entertainment, food trucks, beer gardens, live music and even a bit of dragon boat racing.  For info, maps, and more, check out

Aug 13: Marda Gras Street Festival@ Marda Loop 10am-5pm. One of Calgary’s staple street festivals. Check out everything you need to know before you go. 


Aug 9: Back to the Future @ Spruce MeadowsGates open @ 7:30, movie starts at dusk (appx. 9:20pm) Tickets at $15 per vehicle. Please visit  to buy tickets and get more information.

Aug 10: Adults Only Night: Ka-Ching@ Telus Spark Science Centre. 6pm. Learn all about… money? While enjoying an adult-oriented science night. You can use CASS’ Community access passes to get your tickets for free, or you can pay the regular $19.95 admission.

Aug 12: Calgary Japanese Festival Omatsuri@ Max Bell Centre. 11am-6pm. Arts & crafts, food, sake tastings, kimono dressing, and anime presentations. more info.

Aug 13: Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Board Race@ Shouldice Park to Prince's Island Park. Starts at 10:30am. If you want to compete you will need to register and pay $20 at Red Nik Surf & Swim (22 Richard Way SW) or, you can watch for free from the riverside.
